Shift and Hours-  Monday-Friday and every other weekend from  8:00am - 4:30pm

Overview

The Control Room Technician is responsible for the fulfillment of controlled substance medication orders in specialized packaging for delivery to customers.

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for packaging and labeling control substance medications into specialize packaging accurate per the valid prescription for final review by pharmacist. 
  • Responsible for managing workflow and monitoring orders to ensure all controlled medications entered for dispensing have been packaged/labeled/verified and toted.
  • Responsible for staging/toting of all finished products and completing chain of custody paperwork for hand-off to courier.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate controlled substance documentation and records.
  • Responsible for entering/updating the pharmacy’s perpetual inventory system, including (CIM) for Schedule II medications dispensed, removed, or received.
  • Assist with prepackaging of controlled substances in anticipation of future use and maintenance of appropriate documentation.
  • Assist with fulfilling replenishment requests for long-term care facility’s on-site emergency supply.
  • Assist with audits and inventories as directed.
  • Responsible for unpacking and stocking items received from wholesaler (under the supervision of the pharmacist); and escalating to Supervisor or PIC immediately if items are missing or appeared tampered.

 

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • National or State Pharmacy Certification preferred
  • Basic computer knowledge skills required
  • Math, and analytical skills
  • One to three years of experience working in a LTC Pharmacy or medical environment preferred.
