Overview

As the Control Room Pharmacy Tech, you will be responsible for the fulfillment of controlled substance medication orders in specialized packaging for delivery to our customers, assisting with the appropriate management of controlled substance inventories, management of controlled substance documentation and compliance with all Federal, State and Remedi rules, regulations and policies surrounding controlled substance practices.

Responsibilities

  • Enter controlled substance orders to include, but not limited to, new orders, refills, DC’s, STAT orders, and clarifications as permitted by regulatory scope of technician practice.
  • Packaging and labeling controlled substance medications into specialized packaging accurately per the valid prescription for final verification by pharmacist.
  • Staging/toting of all finished products and completing chain of custody paperwork for hand-off to courier.
  • Entering/updating the pharmacy’s perpetual inventory system, including (CIM) for Schedule II medications dispensed, removed, or received.
  • Assist with prepackaging of controlled substances in anticipation of future use and maintenance of appropriate documentation.
  • Assist with fulfilling replenishment requests for long-term care facility’s on-site emergency supply.
  • Assist with coordination, replenishment, update and exchange of (exchange-type) controlled substance OSS.
  • Assist with management of removal/disposition/replacement of expired OSS contents.
  • Assist with audits and inventories as directed.
  • Unpacking and stocking items received from wholesaler (under the supervision of the pharmacist) ; and escalating to Supervisor or PIC immediately if items are missing or appeared tampered. 

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • National or State Pharmacy Certification Required. 
  • Familiarity with control substance medication names.
  • Basic computer knowledge skills required.
  • Extensive knowledge and comprehension of pharmacy terminology.
  • Math, and analytical skills.
  • One to three years of experience working in a LTC Pharmacy or medical environment preferred.
